The Greatness of Grout

Grout

Grout is a thick fluid used to fill gaps in existing constructions or strengthen them. It is usually a mixture of water, cement, and sand. Grout has many household and industrial applications. Under industrial conditions, it is used as a pouring material for the foundation of heavy machinery base plates, and also it can anchor different fixtures. For household use, grout is commonly known as the filler between tiles on shower floors and kitchen tiles and works as a sealant to prevent moisture infiltration between tiles and floors.

Making grout is easy as you only need water to achieve the desired consistency. Varying water content can control the flowability and pourability of grouts. Grout is not the same as mortar. Mortars are thicker and used between bricks to cement those together and have higher viscosity than grout. Due to grout’s low viscosity, its flowability gives the advantage to fill the small gaps in construction and home application.

Grout characteristics

There are certain characteristics you should keep in mind before choosing grout. It should be a non shrink grout meaning when it hardens it should not shrink. It also needs to have excellent bonding properties with the surface, low permeability, and high strength. There are different types of grouts for specific needs considering the gap you are working with and the desired strength.

Soundgrout – GPG2 Non-Shrink Grout

Our product Soundgrout – GPG2 is a great product which is –

  1. Cement-based dry premix powder for general purposes
  2. designed considering durability, low permeability, moisture infiltration, extraordinary bonding properties, nonshrink properties, high strength, and free-flowing.
  3. At 28 days, the compressive strengths reach >65 N/mm2 flowable consistency and >75 N/mm2 pourable consistency.
  4. Easy to make. To acquire flowable qualities and high strengths, simply add water and mix.
  5. This non-sanded cement grout is available in gray color and 25 kg HDPE bags.

Expert tips for buyers:

  1. To get the best out of our product, follow the catalog on our website. Add the pre-mix in the recommended amount of water for desired pourability and flowability. Also, use a clean container
  2. The quality of your background also matters when applying grout. It should be clean, dust and grease-free. Refer to our catalog for further information. The surface area should have no free water and blow over the place to remove any moisture.
  3. It is recommended to pour the material immediately after mixing. Don’t store for too long as it can harden in the container. You should never add water to set or stiffen the mix. This grout can be applied in a single layer (thickness 100MM).
  4. Curing is also an essential part of maintaining grout quality. A minimum of 3 days is recommended for optimal grout performance. After completing the grout application, saturate the area with clean water or cover it with wet clothes (hessian).
  5. Be careful about the temperature of your working site. If the temperature exceeds more than 40degC, use cool water around 20degC.
